On June 5, 2012, a once-in-a-lifetime event will take place: Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 60th jubilee on the throne. No other head of state has been in power for so long. During this time she has seen 12 prime ministers. From the old warhorse Winston Churchill in love with his beautiful young queen, to the catfight with Margaret Thatcher and his conflicted relationship with Tony Blair, this film looks behind the scenes of power and reveals power struggles, jealousies and genuine friendships. Every Tuesday the Prime Ministers go to Buckingham Palace for a secret audience.
Filmmakers Katharina Wolff and Tristan Chytroschek spoke to the Queen's private secretaries and those familiar with the UK political scene to unravel the mystery behind the talks between the Queen and the Prime Ministers. They learned how personal likes and dislikes determine the relationship between royalty and government, between representation and political power.
